Monday 10th December 2007

Well I'm now married off! I got married on 2nd June 2007, on a glorious sunny warm day despite the rest of the month being wet, windy and cold! We had a wonderful day and it was very special to be joined by our families and friends. I've now moved to North London as well. I've also started a new job (I have a day job as well as this!). So it's been a summer of huge changes! We've taken some time out to get used to being married, and now......

I've begun to take enquiries for concert bookings in 2008 so look out for new date/s on the diary page shortly. I anticipate recording again in 2008 (I can't wait), and hope to release my next (as yet untitled) album either late 2008 or the beginning of 2009.

Keep in touch and thanks for reading!

Monday 23rd October 2006

Well it's suddenly deep into Autumn and I'm not sure where the summer went.

For those of you don't know me personally, I have an 'ickle announcement - I got engaged to Jeremy early in the summer and we will marry in the summer of 2007. It's all very exciting as you would expect.

In the meantime I continue to write new songs in the quiet moments, so I can't say Chasing My Tail will be my final album.........

I'd love to hear from you, so do drop me a line.

Sunday 7th May 2006

The review of "Chasing My Tail" is finally out and they were very kind about it! It was rated 9 out of 10, so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't really pleased. It reflects a great deal of work, on the part of my team. Without the team I couldn't continue to do what I do. To read the review, go to www.crossrhythms.co.uk and search by my last name.

Don't forget, if you want me to come and do a gig at your event, all you need to do is click the contact button on this site and ask me!

Sunday 19th February 2006

I can't believe it's mid-February! I seem to have only just filed all the receipts for Christmas presents and now all of a sudden I'm nearly staring Easter in the face, well perhaps not quite! I'm still waiting for the review of my new album "Chasing my tail" - it seems the reviewers at Cross Rhythms are working with a huge backlog of them, but it'll not be long I'm sure. They do a really good work at Cross Rhythms and I don't mind waiting because not yet having a review makes little difference to the job I feel I should be doing with my music. I'm looking at some new gigs in the next few months which is great - I'll have the opportunity to talk with lots of new people, as well as seeing some really important work done by loads of people out there. Apart from those gigs, I have no idea what the year will hold or where I will be, and that in a way is an exciting thing.

Music news aside, I had a really lovely day last Tuesday - J went all romantic on me on Valentine's day (woopee!), giving me a lovely bunch of long-stemmed red roses, together with some very sweet presents all wrapped in red shiny paper, and he also took me for a lovely meal. I felt very spoiled - what a lucky girl! And what a lovely man!

It's been a funny year so far in terms of friends - I've seen a number of close friends move away since Christmas, which has taken some adjusting to and I'm now looking back at 2005 and realising lots of my friends have been moving away over that time and I'd not really added it all up. I'm bracing myself for the departure of yet another on 1st April - my best friend Liz is moving to San Fransico for at least a year, with her husband's job and I'll miss her enormously. There's also a family very close to me probably emigrating in May. I've never known so many departures and major changes of my close friendship circle in such a short space of time - I'm starting to wonder if this is something to do with making it easier for me to move on when the time is right. Because I still live in the town of my birth, I've always known if I ever planned to move, it could potentially be quite scary because of all the deep relationships that have been built over the years. I've always prayed that if I were to go anywhere, I'd not want to feel a pull to stay that was too painful to overcome. I like nothing more than the company of those I love so to leave that would be awful. I'll have to pray more about that one and see what all these changes in friendship geography mean!

Anyway, I'm waffling on as always - I'll add more blog when my review is out - even if the review is bad - which I sincerely hope isn't the case!!

Love as always and may God bless your socks off,

Lisa

Monday 21st November 2005

Well it's out!!! "Chasing my tail" has been released. I can't wait to see what happens with it! They were dropped off to various shops including Bromley's Wesley Owen on Saturday and my friend heard it playing on the shop floor later that day - so thanks to the staff there for their leg-up! And thanks to H for lugging my PR material up 2 flights of stairs on Friday having collected it from the printers!!

The launch gig went really well on Saturday night and there were lots of new faces for me to meet. I DID wear the jeans - it wasn't really a good day weather-wise to have air conditioning units in so many places up my legs, but I like them anyway! No seriously, it was a good time. It didn't go without its technical hitches, but it didn't matter as I was blessed enough to have a great team who sprang into action when technology was having a laugh with us! If you were there, I hope you enjoyed it. At 3am I crashed out and then got up to sing at church the next morning. After church, J and I had a roast dinner in a pub in a record 18 minutes Sunday lunchtime (!!!), so that we could head off pronto to help out at a youth service in London. It was a manic weekend....

Anyway, I'll leave you for now. Do bash the "contact" button on this site - I'd love to hear from you.

God bless,
xx

Sunday 13th November 2005

Well here it is – my first blog entry on the new site! Welcome!! As this is the first entry, it’s also bound to be the longest... read on....

This month has seen lots activity of the music front, but I don’t want to bore you with it all!! Suffice to say, the end result is a new album called “Chasing my tail”, a new-look website and some saleable merchandise. The team that work with me (Jeremy, Jon, James, Julie and Mel) have put in loads of hours to get this together in time for the release on 21st November, so I really hope you like what you hear and see! I think it’s more adventurous than the first album and so hopefully, shows some progression since last year. There were a few technical hitches with getting this album produced, and if you know me, I’m bound to have told you all about them (sorry guys!). However, thank God, they were all resolved and now here it is!

I’m really looking forward to the album launch gig this Saturday, especially as there will be lots of people there to meet for the first time – if you’re coming along, please stay after the gig to say hi if you can as I’d love to meet you! I’ve decided I want to wear some ripped jeans for the launch but I don’t have any, so I’ve asked a friend to slash some jeans that I already own. If you come to the gig and I’m not wearing them (don’t worry – I’d be wearing something else!), it’s probably cos they were either a disaster (not likely) or looked ridiculous (more likely, but I can’t quite put my finger on why...)

There will be lots of stuff you can buy at the gig; the new album, posters and postcards, as well as the first album “Don’t wanna waste any time”. You can join the e-mailing list on the night too (free) – you won’t get spammed, you’ll just get an e-mail from me with updates every now and then. You can trust me not to pass your e-mail address on to anyone!

Away from all the stuff to do with the album, I had lunch with friends today which is the first time I’ve been able to see them properly in more than a month because of being busy with making the new album, and the really stupid thing is, one of those friends lives in the flat below me – cheers for that H! I’m looking forward to being able to do that kind of thing a bit more now! J and I went to my best friend’s 30th birthday party last night which was also really good – Anna’s my longest standing friend and we get to meet about 4 times a year usually as she lives a little distance away these days. I’ve got quite a few more social things coming up now which is great – all work and no play and all that!

Well I’ve waffled on enough for now! I hope you enjoy the site and sounds on here. May God bless your socks off. xx
