I was visiting another church one morning to hear my cousin Adrian preaching. I’d not seen him in years, so was really looking forward to it. His talk was really heartfelt and emotional and I was both moved and inspired. He talked on entering by narrow way and what awaits if we obey God. He talked of the ultimate futility of possessions too; how carrying them can make getting through a narrow door very difficult. I went home and immediately penned this song, which showed both my dedication to God and my amazement and acknowledged my inability to fully appreciate what He’s done for us. As the lyric says: “What am I to do with this love? I’m speechless”
I want to see Your face,
Want to know Your grace,
I want to be with You for all time.
When You say my name I fall down on my knees,
I’m in pieces and yet complete.
Jesus every day, strip me bare I pray,
Lead me nearer to Your throne.
Though I cannot repay, grant me Your love I crave,
You are my love, my life, my all.
So I run to You
And I ask You….
What am I to do with this love?
I’m speechless.
What am I to say, to be good enough?
I’m speechless.
For riches I have no love,
I have only disdain,
So if they’re wrong for me, take them away.
I’m in love with You,
Want to live in Your truth,
Like a child I come before You.
So I run to You
And I ask You….
What am I to do with this love?
I’m speechless.
What am I to say, to be good enough?
I’m speechless.
How can I repay Your sacrifice?
I’m speechless.
I will never walk away -
I’m speechless.
