This song is about the needy state of the world at the moment. We live in a world where we’re encouraged to be single minded and go after exactly what we want, a world where modern life can often seem like being on a fast roundabout in a lonely playground. We’re encouraged to not think about the consequences of what we do and if something goes wrong, to cut and run. Brand slogans like “Just do it” are banded about and further indicate the pace at which we now live our lives. No other day has needed to know what God has to offer more than this.
This is the song used as a theme tune for elements of Baptist Home Mission, by the London Baptist Association.
This is a time that’s forgotten about you,
This is a day that idolises what we ourselves create.
This a day where we take but do not pay.
This is a time where we seem to feel no shame.
This is a day, this is a day, this is a day
Where have you gone in this busy yet lonely time?
Life’s a roundabout in a lonely playground.
How should we pray to save the broken hearted?
Into the fray we go.
How do we pray, what do we say to the needs of today?
No other day needs you more than ever,
No other day confirms your fears better,
And by no other way,
Will they see the hope that’s in your name,
Than if we join together
And see them with your eyes.
So there is a hope,
An answer that’s out there,
It’s your spirit living in me.
The only antidote,
Our shelter,
From the acid rain,
From the dying pain.
There is a hope, there is a way to make another day.
No other day needs you more than ever,
No other day confirms your fears better,
And by no other way,
Will they see the hope that’s in your name,
Than if we join together
And see them with your eyes.
