This song’s pretty simple. It speaks of the sacrifice God made in sending His son Jesus, to die a grim death on our behalf all those years ago. I was thinking mainly of this when I wrote it, and was also thinking about creation in all its beauty and complexity and the individuality of all the people living on this earth. It led me to thinking; God must find it sad that we in general, try to ignore His very existence and believe it so strange to look to Him as author and creator of our lives.
I came to live amongst you,
I came to die just for you,
How can it be so strange for you to love me?
You think I’m out of sight,
But it’s only me who let’s you be alive.
You can fight the empty feeling,
But it will never go away inside –
Lose your pride.
Why is it so strange for you to love me?
What is it in your way?
Why so strange for you to love me?
What is it you can’t share?
Why is it you don’t care?
I am here waiting for you -
Don’t wait; my grace will cover you.
Don’t bring possessions and deeds,
Just come -
You’ll see.
You think I’m out of sight,
But it’s only me that let’s you be alive.
You can fight the empty feeling
But it will never go away inside –
Lose your pride.
Why is it so strange for you to love me?
What is it in your way?
Why so strange for you to love me?
What is it you can’t share?
Why is it you don’t care?
